Andy WalshAs a life-long trade unionist and community activist, Andy is proud to be a founding member of the Greater Manchester Law Centre and a member of its Finance & General Purposes Committee.

Andy was chair of the Greater Manchester Anti-Poll Tax Campaign and was jailed for non-payment. Andy believes that empowering people allows them to achieve extraordinary things. Formerly an Associate Research Fellow at Birkbeck College, he is widely published and is regularly invited to speak at conferences and to the media on mutuality and fan involvement in football.

Andy has a background in the finance and the tech sectors. He played a leading role in the establishment of FC United of Manchester as the biggest supporter-owned football club in the UK. As a founding board member and latterly General Manager of FC United, Andy led the £6.5m project to build the club’s 5,000-capacity community football ground and sports complex. He currently works for the Football Supporters’ Federation.
