Dianne has gained over 5 years’ experience working both with law firms on behalf of both claimants and defendants. She graduated with a 2:1 from Newcastle University and achieved “Very Competent” level on her Bar Professional Training Course (BPTC). She is extremely passionate about GMLC’s mission in terms of fighting together for free access to justice. She attributes the origin of this to her mother, a Vietnamese refugee who came to settle in the UK. She remembers her mother seeking immigration advice from a law centre, similar to GMLC, when she was younger.
During her BPTC course, Dianne acted as Student Director of the BPP Legal Advice Clinic. She pursued her passion for pro-bono legal work with her involvement in the launch of the GMLC Corporate Sponsorship Programme.
Dianne volunteers on the GMLC Benefits Appeal Team, assisting and representing clients at benefits appeal tribunals. She also works with Astrid Johnson (GMLC Development Worker) on community fundraising strategies and helps to manage groups of student volunteers on a range of fundraising activities.
