Volunteers are the backbone of the law centre.

Go against the grain. Join the fight for free access to justice by volunteering on the services team at the Greater Manchester Law Centre.

We are looking for:

  • Reception/front of house volunteers,
  • Welfare benefits application assistance, and
  • Welfare benefits case workers.

Services volunteers must have at least one day per week to dedicate to working on our premises.

Reception/front of house volunteer

A sympathetic and committed individual is required as a receptionist to meet and welcome members of the public who call in or contact our office. The office has been established as part of our campaign to fight the cuts to advice and to provide free legal advice and representation to the residents of the entirety of the Greater Manchester region.

Welfare benefits application assistant volunteer

This role is to offer a specialist welfare benefits casework service at the Law Centre’s offices and any outreaches.

To ensure that services are delivered to the highest standard, are accessible and quality assured and where appropriate are delivered in accordance with funder requirements.

This role is to offer a specialist welfare benefits casework service at the Law Centre’s premises and any satellite locations. Our caseworkers ensure that services are delivered to the highest standard, are accessible and quality assured and, where appropriate, are delivered in accordance with funder requirements.

Looking for a different type of volunteering work?

We also have a campaign and fundraising volunteer team to help with our campaigns, community outreach, fundraising, social media presence and more.

This team is more flexible, and so is suitable for volunteers with demanding schedules.
