“Government funded access to the law for everyone is fundamental to democracy.”

-Sandy Broadhurst, local resident

Volunteers

Volunteers are the backbone of the law centre.

We are always looking for volunteers to help at our premises with the services we offer to the public: advice work, reception and signposting or general admin work.

We also have a second volunteer stream to help with our campaigns, community outreach, fundraising, social media presence etc.

To apply to join our Services Volunteer Team, please download this form.

To apply to join our Campaign Volunteer Team, please download this form.

You can join both teams.

Please don’t hesitate to get in touch with us if you have any other skills to offer. We are running an office and sometimes need a handywoman/man. Or you can help with transport to events, bake a cake… anything, please get in touch with ku.gr1513128200o.wal1513128200mg@tn1513128200empol1513128200eved1513128200.

Members

For those that want to make a commitment to the running of the law centre, becoming a member is ideal. Membership, once approved by our management committee, will entitle you to:

  • Receive our regular newsletter, including information about the many ways you can get involved with GMLC
  • Details of our latest events
  • Attend our public meetings
  • Vote at our Annual General Meeting (AGM)

Our membership fees are £5 per year (band 1/unwaged) or £20 per year (band 2/waged).

You can apply for membership here.

Affiliates

An affiliate is a large organisation such as a firm, chamber or Trade Union who pays a fee to the law centre which will entitle them to:

  • Our regular newsletter and information about the upcoming events.
  • Acknowledgement as an affiliate in our literature for public events, as well as our website and annual reports.

Affiliates may also apply for membership status and thus be entitled to vote in the AGM as a representative of their respective organisation. Affiliates who wish to have voting rights at the AGM, as with Members, must complete a membership form for approval by the Management Committee.

It will be at the discretion of the management committee to determine whether an organisation is suitable for affiliate or supporter status (below).
To enquire about Affiliate status, please email ku.gr1513128200o.wal1513128200mg@tn1513128200empol1513128200eved1513128200.

Supporters

Supporting organisations and campaigns do not necessarily pay a monthly fee to the law centre. They will be entitled to:

  • Our regular newsletter and information about upcoming events.
  • Acknowledgement as a supporter in our literature for public events, as well as our website and annual reports.

Supporters may also become members and thus be entitled to vote in the AGM as a representative of their respective organisation. Supporters who wish to have voting rights at the AGM, as with Members, must complete a membership form for approval by the Management Committee. It will be at the discretion of the management committee to determine whether an organisation is suitable for supporter or affiliate status (above).
